I know, I wasn't putting a lot of faith in this one too. But this combination is surprisingly good!

Matcha is, like coffee, an uninventive taste. On your first try, you might not like it. However, many people who initially disliked matcha and coffee sooner grew to fathom its unshared flavor.

In this recipe, the matcha tends to come out strongly, the flavors of coffee seeming as a pleasant aftertaste. Adding milk to this instillation makes it less stormy and increasingly creamy.

What's a Dirty Matcha?

????Ingredients

Were using 4 ingredients (plus ice) for this recipe:

• Coffee: if you can make an espresso, go for it. If you dont have an espresso machine, Ill requite you all possible substitutions on the notes of the recipe card.

• Simple syrup: the sweetener I use for my dirty matcha. If you dont have (or dont want to make) a simple syrup, you can use sugar or any sweetener of your choice.

• Matcha powder: you can use ceremonial/premium grade matcha for this recipe, or stick with a cheaper version of untried tea powder.

• Milk: whole, partially skimmed or skimmed milk work for this beverage. If youre looking for a dairy-free/vegan version, you can substitute for almond, soy or oat milk. Use the unsweetened, unflavored version. 

????How to make it

Prepare a shot of espresso. I like to use a visionless roast like Starbucks Sumatra for this recipe.

Prepare matcha. Mix matcha powder with hot water and whisk until powder is fully incorporated and no lumps are left.

• If youre not using simple sugar syrup but sugar, add sugar to this mixture and whisk until combined.

Fill a tall glass with ice cubes.

Pour simple syrup, then the matcha.

Add milk, and top it with the espresso.
